About this School Project (Kindergarten has Heart!)
The Kindergarten artists learned about warm and cool colors and reviewed different types of lines for this heart inspired work of art. First the artists chose a color family- warm or cool- to paint one type of line all over their papers, being careful to fill up the paper so no white was showing. The second art time the students learned a little about printmaking and got to use legos and a neutral color- white- to add some texture/pattern to their line paintings. During the final art time, students learned about positive and negative space, as well as symmetry. They traced a heart template on the folded part of their painting, cut it out and found that they had a positive heart (the heart shape itself), and a negative heart (the heart-shaped hole!). The artists completed their beautiful works by glueing both the positive and negative heart papers to paper from the opposite color family!
Good job, Kinders!
