About this School Project (3rd- Exploring Architecture & Printmaking)
Students reviewed what they already knew about architecture and learned about famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. They began the project by using cardboard and paint to create printed versions of buildings they sketched. When these were dry the artists colored them with crayon, overlapping colors to make them more interesting and experimenting with creating a little contrast using light and dark coloring.
The artists then learned about creating monoprints using a piece of overhead and paint. They learned about both the additive process and subtractive process of printing. Most used a combination of both processes to create a landscape for their buildings. When the landscape backgrounds were dry some chose to color in the white spots using crayon.
Finally the artists used collage to put their buildings on their landscapes, thus finishing their masterpieces! Good job, artists!
