About this School Project (1st: Shape People)
The first grade artists learned about the art elements of shape, color and line for this project. First they learned the difference between geometric shapes (shapes that you can name) and organic shapes (shapes you make up or find in nature). Then they reviewed the color wheel and primary and secondary colors. The artists learned how to divide the color wheel in half to see the warm and cool colors. To begin their people they used warm colors to draw organic shapes and cool colors for geometric shapes-- these became the bodies of the people. They completed their people by using 6 different lines to create hair, adding faces that showed different emotions and legs and arms to match those emotions.
