Artist Statement (what Omar1121 said about their artwork)
I learned how to make a flag in a different way. I like how I got to express my feelings about freedom. I think it came out pretty good.
About this School Project (Freedom Flag Story Quilt)
Students looked at the story quilts of painter and fiber artist, Faith Ringgold.especially her flag ones. They scrunch died white paper with red and blue liquid watercolors for their flag's blue field and red stripes. These were cut and glued to the flag paper. Like Ringgold's "Flag Story Quilt," they wrote on the white stripes, with their theme being what freedom means to them. These will hang for Veterans' Day.
