About this School Project (3rd - Wayne Thiebaud Cakes)
Students watched a movie about artist Wayne Thiebaud and looked at his paintings of cakes and desserts. Next they practiced how to make a cylinder - then how to cut a slice out of it so it looked like a 3D cake. We also made the slice on a plate ready to eat. Students realized that they could make all kinds of things with this technique: a hat, a hockey puck, a pool, etc, etc... Next they enlarged a cake on a platter and used shading with light and dark oil pastels. Yummy!
