About this School Project (Self Portrait Profiles)
This highly graphics-intensive self-portrait is made by tracing the students profile silhouette onto the paper. The student then draws in 5 objects which represent themselves.
One of the objects can be a name or nickname in bubble letters. Each object must touch one other object and the side of the profile somewhere.
Blank areas are filled in with patterns, using black Sharpie marker, and all penciled lines are traced with the Sharpie.
The next step is/will be to water color paint the objects inside the heads.
This is such a great lesson for middle school. It is all about the student, it has personal choices, makes them think graphically about pattern and composition and the end results are super for every student.
