About this School Project (Handy Bird Mask)
For their disguises, third graders made up their own bird. After using the color wheel for a discussion about triad colors, they chose three colors that form a triad. They traced their hands onto the colors and cut them out to make the head feathers. These were glued into a symmetric pattern of the three colors and a scrap paper shape was cut for the head of the bird. To make the pointed beak, they learned how to fold a rectangle, cut a triangle from it and fold and cut slits to glue to the head. Eyes could be drawn directly onto the mask or cut from scrap paper. Marker decorations could be added fpr more interesting effects..
