About this School Project (Hundertwasser's "Park" at Night)
Students looked at paintings by Friedensreich Hundertwasser with trees, that they called "lollipop" trees because they look like the spiral lollipops. The inspiration artwork by Hundertwasser was his "775 Park." After discussing warm and cool colors, they made 5 black dots for the center of their trees with oil pastels. They used warm colors (red, orange, yellow) and the cool colors (green, blue, violet) to make the spirals around the dots to form their trees (2 of one set, 3 of the other, by their choice). Some of these had to be drawn to appear to be further away by using overlapping. The horizon line was added and the grass painted green and the sky black with watercolors.
