It was easy to use the watercolors and the wax crayon. Making this was fun and exiting.
About this School Project ("Land!" In 1492)
After hearing the book "In 1492" by Jean Marzollo and illustrated by Steve Bjorkman, we discussed the illustrations and the point of view perspectives the illustrator used in these. They were then directed through the steps of water color painting with more refined techniques.
They were to imagine that they were on the ship in Columbus' fleet, and they were the first to sight land(believed to be India but actually the "New World"). Wet-on-wet techniques and salt were used.
