About this School Project (SW Native American)
Students looked at examples of white, black and orange pottery made by Native Americans of the Southwest, especially that of the ancient Anaszi., then sketched ideas on paper. The whole project took three more weeks to complete. The first week, they learned to make a pinch pot. The second week, they painted their designs with black engobe and red clay slip to mimic Native American design techniques. The third week, students painted on the clear glaze.
