About this School Project ("Big Fuzzy" with Aurora Borealis)
Students heard the story "The Big Fuzzy" by Caroline Castle. After looking at images of the northern lights on the computer, they painted the aurora borealis sky using the wet-o-wet technique with watercolor paints. They also drew a polar bear pattern using geometric shapes to form the bear's contour. The polar bears were cut out of white felt. White paper was torn for the snow layers and dry brushed for shadows and texture. The Big Fuzzy polar bear was glued on to complete the scene.
