About this School Project (Folk Art Bird inspired by Lisa Congdon)
Students will begin with a precut bird shape and using tempra paint cakes, they will paint their bird however they would like. It can be one single color or up to six colors that are on their palette.
Next they will be given a 12x1 piece of white paper and where they will create a pattern along the edges of their paper, these can be as simple as dots in a repeating color patter or a variety of shapes that repeat to make a patter.
Bext they will cut out a small triangle to glue onto the birds head for its beak. Then using KwikSticks students will draw on the birds eye. Then the bird's body will be glued to the 12x12 paper.
Next using three different size circle traces students will trace three different circles on three different color papers, then glue them smallest to largest. Next the circles will be cut in half. One half will be glued onto the bird bodt and the other half will be glued just above the bird to represent the two wings.
