About this School Project (Signs of Spring)
Third grade students used digital cameras to practice the artform of photography. After learning about "land artists" Agnes Denes and Andy Goldsworthy, we discussed how to capture ephemeral art in nature. After theorizing, students decided that photography was the best choice. Third graders practiced using either the Rule of Thirds, where something is slightly off center, or interesting perspectives in the photos they took. After documenting, students selected which of their photos they wanted to put on Artsonia for display.
DCPS Scope and Sequence:
-Use of different idea/disciplines to advance visual art-making knowledge and skills
· Demonstrate understanding and thoughtful use of linear perspective
· Digital Media: point and shoot digital camera
-Time and art are critically connected.
