About this School Project (Giraffes Can't Dance!!!)
Second graders read the book, "Giraffes Can't Dance" by Giles Andrede. All the animals in the jungle thought Gerald the giraffe couldn't dance and made fun of him every time there was a jungle dance. The little cricket notices sad Gerald in the jungle and encourages him. He says "Everything makes music if you want it to!" Gerald slowly starts swaying to his own sweet tune. It only took one little creature to believe in him. For our lesson, we used brown and yellow markers to create our dancing giraffes! On day 2, we painted a background by using blues and purples for our sky. This was fun because we got to mix the colors right on the paper! We also painted a moon with white paint and swirled it around and around to make it glow. The last part was the ground....We used yellows and greens and with the bottom of our brushes, scratched it for a textured grass. To finish, we glued our dancing giraffes onto our beautiful background. So you see, giraffes CAN DANCE ! This lesson was soooo much fun for everyone!!!
