About this School Project (7th Grade Pop Art Color Wheel Paintings)
Students will create a painting that is inspired by the "Pop Art" movement that took place in America in the 1950's and 60's. Students will see the famous artworks of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Keith Herring, which will serve as a starting point for the students paintings. Students can create any scene they would like for their paintings, as long as it shows a "Pop Art" style. For painting, students will use only the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) to mix all of the colors of the color wheel, and include them all in their paintings. They may also use black and white to mix tints and shades if they desire. Completed paintings will include a lot of detail, and can be outlined in sharpie.
