Artist Statement (what Autumn14350 said about their artwork)
I created a little friend ava-cat-o. I sewed it together with needle and thread. I created this because I could display it in my room. My favorite part about my project is that it is now my forever friend.
About this School Project (Art Show WOW Project)
WOW projects, or “Wonderful Original Works of Art,” are a key component of Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) classrooms, helping students transition from playful exploration to meaningful, finished artwork. Developed by TAB educator Barbara Berry, the WOW cycle encourages students to envision, plan, and create long-term projects that reflect their artistic growth. While younger students naturally develop WOW projects through play, older students benefit from structured challenges that push their creativity further. To qualify as a WOW project, the artwork must be original, carefully crafted, take significant time, demonstrate artistic growth, and be documented with an artist statement. By introducing WOW projects, teachers can inspire students to engage deeply with their art, fostering motivation and skill development.
