About this School Project (4th Grade Still-Life Drawings)
4th grade artists learned how to show value with just a sharpie pen in their black and white drawings of a still-life. Lines that are closer together look darker than lines that are farther apart and are called hatching when they never touch. Other areas in the drawing show cross hatching and even contour hatching to indicate forms with volume. The last technique is called stippling where they can use dots to show value which sounds easy but can take a lot of time to do! One goal of this project was to use a different value for each section. They put together all their new skills in a drawing of a still-life we had set up in our room.
