Artist Statement (what Jubilee88 said about their artwork)
My favorite part of this artwork was the theme in general. I just like how all the parts kind of fit together like the parts of a clock would fit together. My least favorite part of this piece is the little kind of spiraling circle in the bumpy circle on the right. When I cut out the spirally part, it was really hard to make the edges smooth, so it turned out kind of messy. The inspiration of this piece was the theme of a clock. I originally thought of the lunch bell as the main part, but I guess you can also say it represents how the different parts of ICS's community all work together. If I were to create this again, I would probably spend more time on the little details like the numbers and screws to make them neater, because it would make the piece look more organized. One big thing I learned when creating this artwork was how hard it was to draw on clay. Whenever I tried to draw out parts, it would make the clay pile up and it wouldn't look good. So I had to shape the forms that I needed instead of cutting out what I needed. One thing that did surprise me when I finished the artwork, was how nice the pieces looked all together. As I worked each day, I added little parts one by one, and in the end, I think they fit really well together, and I think the piece looks really balanced. To create this artwork, I formed and cut pieces of clay and layered them onto a square base.
