Students in art club enjoyed learning about using mixed media to create a collage. In art, a collage is a technique of creating a composition by gluing or adhering various materials like paper, fabric, or found objects to a surface. To create their mixed media collage, students used Mod Podge to adhere newspaper shapes to their backing, then outlined each shape with a mixture of black acrylic paint and glue. Finally, students choose a warm or cool color scheme to add color to their work, and used watercolor paint, markers, oil pastel, or acrylic paint to fill each shape with color. White lines, dots, and shapes were added with acrylic paint to embellish the finished collage.
