About this School Project (3rd: Surreal Dali Elephants)
Students learned about Surrealism and how it takes images from real life and distorts them to have a dream like quality. Surreal Artists paint more of what it is in their mind and dreams rather than reality. We studied Salvador Dali and one of his famous paintings of an elephant with really long legs called The Elephants. Students were challenged to create their own long legged elephant and come up with a creative scenery of where their elephants were (the beach, outer space, mountains, etc.) We used drawing pencils (4B &. 2H) to shade our elephants, crayons to color in our scenery, and chalk pastel to color in our beautiful skies!
