About this School Project (Hot Air Balloon Art and Weaving)
Students explore patterns and repetition through the examination of hot air balloons. They apply their pattern knowledge by tracing a hot air balloon shape, dividing it with vertical lines, and using bold tempera paint to create repeating colors. Each student then creates a blended sky background on 12x18 paper and add white clouds. Once the balloon paintings are dry, they will cut slits into the balloon and weave in black paper strips using an over-and-under technique. All pieces are then glued together and paired with a basket and an individually drawn figure.
