About this School Project (Grade 6- Clay “Storyteller” Figure Sculpture)
Students viewed images of painted ceramic “Storyteller” Figure Sculptures by Southwestern Native American artist Helen Cordero from the Cochiti Pueblo which lies between the Rio Grande and the Jemez Mountains. She mostly created people figures with children, but sometimes created animals as the Storyteller. Sixth graders created their own clay “Storytellers” and once fired painted the surface with acrylic paints.
