About this School Project (6th Oil Pastel Shading Cakes)
6th grade looked at the paintings of well known artist Wayne Thiebaud, focusing directly on his paintings of cakes. Students practiced blending oil pastels and drawing a cylinder before putting their skills to use creating their own cake with a slice cut out. This project focused on layering and blending oil pastels, drawing ellipses for the cylinder, and adding shadows and highlights to various parts of the the cake and plate.
