About this School Project (Slab and Coil Ceramics)
First grade students used clay in art class, employing two different techniques to create an organically shaped container. After discussing the historical uses of clay; students learned out key clay terms like kiln, glaze, firing, and the stages of clay. After adding texture to their slab, artists practiced rolling a coil to create a foot for their vessel.
