About this School Project (Birch Tree Landscape)
6th grade artists created watercolor landscapes featuring birch trees.
They began by laying out their trees using masking tape. They drew layers of ground, and used a watercolor fade on their ground layers. In the sky, they chose a watercolor method- wet on wet, salt resist, or blending- and colors of their choice. When paint was dried, they peeled the tape to reveal their trees. They used charcoal pencils to create texture for the birch tree bark, and a watercolor wash for shading on their trees.
