Artist Statement (what Owen26031 said about their artwork)
I made a weird plane. I made this because I like planes. I got my idea from a plane. I discovered that planes are cool. One problem that came up was how I was going to make it fly. I persisted and solved this by just adding string. I practiced the Studio Habit of keep going. I practiced this by just dealing with it. My favorite part of my artwork is that there is a room in the plane and it's made out of paper.
About this School Project (4-6 Care Artwork)
For the first part of our year in the studio, we practice playing to discover and exploring new materials and techniques. Starting in December & January, artists are challenged to begin choosing an idea for and working on a Care Artwork. We talk about how artists COMMIT to an artwork and work on it over time. They ENGAGE and PERSIST with ideas that matter to them. This Care Artwork challenges artists to practice these behaviors, and make intentional decisions about how they will EXPRESS their original ideas through their work.
Artwork should meet the following check list for students:
- I practiced & grew as an artist.
- My idea is original.
- I’m proud & I persisted through challenges.
- I worked on it over time (more than 2 classes).
- I completed a Partner Talk.
- I wrote my artist statement.
