About this School Project (2nd Grade - Secret Underground City Cutaway)
Second grade started the new trimester with a new unit on how "Art Expresses a Point of View". We learned that it is important to look at the world from different perspectives. To begin this unit we read the book "Over and Under the Snow" by Kate Messner. We discussed how there can be a whole world below our feet that animals live in especially during the winter. Taking this idea, students were encouraged to design a burrow, under the snow, filled hibernating woodland creatures. We shaded with crayons, watercolored, used markers, and mixed tempera paints to make our wintery scene come to life.
