Artist Statement (what Miracle377 said about their artwork)
My design process was complex but simple at the same time. I knew I wanted to draw some kind of animal like a wolf or fox so I chose fox (even though it lowkey looks like a wolf). I looked at a lot of wildlife photos of all kinds of foxes and I tried different head angles and poses. I eventually landed on the pose you see. For the rest of the composition I first considered doing lilacs because they are a representation of the LGBTQ community and I wanted to show that but I couldn’t make it work. I kept looking at different artworks and found one of the Nordic folklore: the two wolves that eat the sun and moon. I liked this idea so I incorporated it by making my fox kind of eat the sun or something that looks sun like. This is how I landed on my whole idea for this artwork.
My artwork is organized into shape, line, and texture. The fur of the fox has texture, the purple in the corner are lines, and the sun is full of spiky shapes.
I do think this is a successful piece of artwork. I really enjoyed creating this and I think it turned out better than the sketch. I really like how it turned out, especially the fur on the fox because this was my first time painting fur. Something I think that I could improve on is the background. The purple lines in the corner were an afterthought and they are there just to fill up the space. I wish I would have found something to put there that would fit and help the composition better.
