Artist Statement (what Hank1641 said about their artwork)
On this project the element we used was line, line is a pah created by a moving point, mark, or object. A continuous contour is a portrait that is made with a line and you can not pick up your pencil. Alexander Calder was a man who made sculptures out of wire to entertain other people, he made a circus out of wire and wood and motors. I think that working with wire is difficult because it doesn't always work the way you want it to.
About this School Project (Calder Wire Faces)
Students are learning about the Elements of Art in 7th grade. Our first concept is line. We discussed contour lines and created a face of wire using one single line. The artist that inspired us was Alexander Calder because he would bring pliers and wire to gatherings with his friends to make wire portraits of them.
