Continuing with our curricular theme of WHO AM I? Third grade artists were introduced to Austrian EXPRESSIONIST artist EGON SCHIELE (1890-1918) and his oeuvre of SELF-PORTRAIT and PORTRAIT drawings and paintings. One objective of this unit is to familiarize students with the POWER of LINES to communicate EMOTIONS and FEELINGS.
PROJECT
Create a SERIES of SELF-PORTRAIT DRAWINGS on paper, in both STANDARD and CONTINUOUS LINE styles, expressing a variety of emotions. The series will consist of:
1. Final Drawing: Standard Self-Portrait (No Expression). Graphite on White Paper. 12x18"
2. Final Drawing: Continuous Line Self-Portrait (Expression of Choice). Graphite on White Paper. 12x18"
3. Final Drawing: Standard Self-Portrait (Expression of Choice). Color Pencil on White Paper. 12x18"
4. Final Drawing: Continuous Line Self-Portrait (Expression of Choice). White Charcoal on Black Paper. 12x18"
