About this School Project (Starry Night Cities)
Students learned all about artist Vincent Van Gogh! We looked at his very famous Starry Night and few other artworks. We discussed his short choppy brush stroke technique and practiced this in our sky with broken lines, curved lines and spirals. The skies are gorgeous! We then designed our own silhouette city and added variety by making some buildings tall, medium and short heights with thicker and thinner papers. We also learned how to cut the tops of them to create more interest, just like a real city. To finish it off, we added windows and other details with fine point sharpie. We discussed creating windows of different sizes and gluing some papers inside of one another. The students really rose to occasion with these beautiful Starry Night Cities! Great work kids!
