About this School Project (Chalk Pastel Still Life)
Second grade artists explored the history of still life painting and the big players of the art form, like painter Rachel Ruysch. Students practiced various chalk pastel techniques to create a realistic image that shows their understanding of light and shadow. Students prepared their artwork for display by cleaning the area around the fruits and signing at the bottom.
DCPS Scope and Sequence:
· Make connections between various time periods and artwork.
· There is no dark without light.
· Apply understanding of color blending within a composition
