Artist Statement (what Gage9903 said about their artwork)
For my basket, I.... used round read and raffia rope with support and the base. I picked it because it was like the easy way to go. I plan to use it for little things in my room. I made it unique in the way of my favorite color, red, and sun red beads. My take aways are the fact the I thot it was hard but all I had to do was try. This is my basket and I hope you like it, and I get a good grade.
About this School Project (Basketry)
Students looked at a variety of handmade baskets, and learned some of the reasons why baskets are made. They learned that virtually every culture in human history has made baskets, and people still make them today as both functional and decorative objects. In fact, woven basketry is nearly always handmade, and not done by a machine.
Students got to choose what materials and methods they used to create their own basket. They were also asked to think about what their basket could be used for, and how they could make it unique and personalized.
