Artist Statement (what Kaidence405 said about their artwork)
Three things about the Fauvist art movement is that they used bold colors and had added texture within the artpiece. It was also an non-realistic color depiction. The inspiration for this artwork was The Bahamas. I thought that that a picture of the ocean with some trees would look very pretty together. I also liked my color choice, they went very nice together. I felt I did well on the detail, texture, and the color choice. One thing I thought I could do differently was add some more white to make certain areas of my artwork show up more then others.
About this School Project (Fauvist Oil Pastels- Studio Art-Gilman)
STudents learned about the Fauvist art movement of the late 19th and early 20th century. These artists were accused by critis of painting like "wild beasts" for using wild, unrealistic color schemes and broad textural strokes of paint. Students released their inner "wild beasts" in creating traditiponal portraits, landscapes, and still lifes using a fauvist approach to color and texture.
