About this School Project (2nd Grade - Line: Skeleton Name Character)
This project was focused on the art element - line. The 2nd graders watched the read aloud of the book, Give Me Back My Bones!, by Kim Norman, and illustrated by Bob Kolar. This was a fun rhyming book on (most of) the bones of the body and was fun to watch around the Halloween time frame. The first step were for the students to write, or as I like to say - draw, their name onto a folded piece of paper. The bottom of their drawn name was toward the fold of the paper, which was meant for the middle of their skeleton, or "spine." The next step was to draw a line/outline around their name, so the students could cut around their name. After cutting around their name, as well as the ins and outs of the details of their name (inside letters like a, e, d, b, etc.), the students then selected a piece of colored background. Lastly, gluing and adding details of what their skeleton character might be were the final steps to creating their skeleton name!
