Artist Statement (what Rahi37 said about their artwork)
We are learning about impressionism in art class. This piece shows the style of Monet. I used oil pastel.
To start this piece, I used orange paper because I wanted it to pop against the blue background. I used brick red blobs to begin my poppies. After that, I layered greens for the grass and stems, and I layered blues for the bright sky. I made sure to add highlights and shadows to the flowers and stems.
I learned a bit about impressionism, how its created, and how to add quick shadows and highlights. I think this piece is horrific, but I don't think I'm a fan of the style.
