About this School Project (Human Heart 1st)
1st grade is learning about the circulatory system in their home room. In art class we talked about blue and red - why are veins blue and why are arteries red? We thought about the heart and what it's made of - some said air, some said blood. I reminded them that oxygen is carried by the blood which is why blood is red (arteries going from the heart to the body), and why veins that look blue are going to the heart (so the blood can get more oxygen from the lungs).
