About this School Project (Star of wonder)
Students worked so hard on this piece! In this mixed media piece, students had to fold various sizes of paper strips, use a ruler to draw diagonal lines and cut in order to make symmetrical spikes for their star. On the back layer, students learned about collage-they cut up pieces of sheet music from 'We Three Kings' with the lyrics "star of wonder, star of night, star of royal beauty bright. Westward leading still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect light" and glued layers down. They students painted gold and silver over the music. Students then learned about texture-the next layer was made with gold and silver crayon rubbings of texture. The next layer was created with line or shaped design in metallic markers. The layer was made with cut up pieces of gold paper and tin foil.
