Artist Statement (what Olive1694 said about their artwork)
It all started when me and Avery wanted to do something like a sunset so we made a few sketches and then Avery came up with this awesome idea of a sunset campground in the the forest with lights of Durango in the background, but the sunset soon became a moon rise and we finally had a solid plan. The first element is line, we used line in two different ways for the cartoonish outline of the mountain and the black trees we surrounded said mountain with. Next is value, for value we tried to do lots of shading to make it look like it was actually night time I tried my best blending as much as possible until my fingers hurt and it worked out great! For shape we did many things from the mountains and The moon to the lake that people were boating on. For color we used lots of cold colors to keep that kind of night time look, but we didn't only use cold colors as we had to blend to make new colors and we also wanted the tent, lake, and dirt to stick out. Next is space, there was actually quite a lot of space in the sky and on the mountains. We used LOTS of texture by using sponges for the grass, dirt and the water (some sand too). Finally form, in form we tried to make it look as realistic as possible and we made a 3D tent as well.
