About this School Project (K My Penguin)
After winter break we reviewed watercolor painting and how to treat our paintbrushes. Students watched how a ballerina is light on her feet and is able to spin across the room gracefully. They also got to watch American figure skater, Nathan Chen and how he glides across the ice smoothly and does not drag his feet. Students were then tasked with using cool colors and making swirls all over their paper.
Next class we read "Be Brave, Little Penguin" by Rachel Elliot. We discussed being brave and trying new things. Using directed drawing, students drew their own penguins. Students are always encouraged during directed draws to make their drawing their own. We then cut out our penguins and glued them onto the background paper previously painted.
