Artist Statement (what Finn2895 said about their artwork)
I chose the dog because I feel like I'm kind and the dog breed is one of the dogs I have.
Emphasis is shown because my animal is the main part of the piece.
It shows movement because the colors combined make your eyes go from one color to another.
It also shows pattern because each Side has its own unique pattern.
On top of that it has contrast between the two colors.
Finally it has unity because it's united together through the middle and the dog.
About this School Project (Arch - Principles of Design: Symbolic Animal)
The students brainstormed aspects of their personality and animals that may be able to represent them symbolically. They designed their animal choice on black paper using metallic and bright colored pencils and gel pens. They also created a background using patterns in marker with a wet-on-wet watercolor application of analogous colors. The animal was attached the background. Then students participated in multiple discussions and activities where they focused on the 8 principles of design. They explained the 5 strongest principles in their artwork based on their design to demonstrate their understanding of these new concepts.
