Artist Statement (what Jose20235 said about their artwork)
This assignment is named Observation from life series #1: Hallway. I started it on October 25th and finished it on November 22nd. It took me about 12 hours in total. My work is influenced by the cultural and historical style of Renaissance artists, Raphael, DaVinci, Missacio, and Michael Angelo.
The medium I used was a Madisi brand #2 HB pencil on a large 24x18 Blick brand 65lbs sulfite paper. I drew directly from life and made a preliminary sketch. The steps I took to create the piece were finding out whether the end shape was a rectangle or square. Then I drew lines to the vanishing point from the corner of the shape. I also used vertical, horizontal, directional lines, and octagonal.
My strongest point was drawing lines to vanishing points correctly. I could’ve added more creativity to my drawing if I had more time to. I want the viewer to be impressed and not just see it and say “oh”. I want them to be excited to see my work. It is personal because I added my own little things like using cross hatching and dots. I used them to shade on the floor and not leave it empty.
