About this School Project (6th-3 Blue Dog)
The artist, George Rodrigue, was born in Louisiana in 1944. While bed ridden with Polio in the third grade, George began painting. In the 1990’s, George became famous for his Blue Dog Paintings. Blue Dog was the result of illustrating a book of Cajun ghost stories. While researching a “Cajun werewolf dog” or loup-garou, George invented The Blue Dog. Blue Dog made him a well known artist. Rodrigue liked to paint Blue Dog with various intriguing backgrounds and unexpected settings. The students explored many of Rodrigue's blue dogs and came up with their own setting to make their unique version of "Blue Dog".
