About this School Project (Complementary candles)
Students learned about complementary colors, which are colors that are opposite. Students drew out Christmas plants and traced over their drawings with oil pastel. They could use any combination of complements, although most chose red and green! Then they painted over their drawings with water color, still using complements. Their paintings were cut up, rolled and glued to look like 3D candles. Students arranged them and glued them to a background, added "illumination" with chalk pastel. Students cut a flame shape out of gold paper for their candle.
