Artist Statement (what Leni72 said about their artwork)
I wanted to create an art project that was interesting to look at and had different shadows that were cast onto it. As I slowly started to take my drawing and make it 3D, it was really coming together. I made it 3D by using many different techniques with the paper to make it stand out. It was very time consuming and I ran into a problem by deciding how to make the fins and tail but then I made it work with different types of scissors and paper folding. I think that I did really well on the tail and the overall body of the fish. Next time I could have gotten rid of the pencil marks before I started glueing. Overall, I liked this project a lot and I would like to do it again.
About this School Project (Sculpture - Paper Relief Sculpture)
Students applied 3D paper techniques to create a wall hanging relief sculpture that used a minimum of five textures to create visual variety. They were tasked with creating a sense of rhythm and movement as well as unity to their design. They had the opportunity to work in an abstract or a representational manner. The paper forms and textures create light and dark values as they interact with the light.
