About this School Project (Metal Embossing - Wish Ornament)
For this project students learned about the Latin tradition of Milagros and other cultures that create symbols for their hopes or wishes. Students were asked to write a wish or hope and think of a symbol that could represent their wish. Next, they turned the symbol into their own unique design that included textures and patterns. Finally, they learned some basic techniques for working with copper and aluminum sheet metal, transferred their design, and used some embossing tools to push areas of metal out and add patterns and texture.
