About this School Project (2nd Grade Leaf Still Life)
Second graders painted a still-life! A still-life is a work of art depicting inanimate objects and is one of the oldest artistic traditions still practiced. A still-life helps build observational skills and helps create connections between the hand and the eye. Students were asked to closely observe and draw the unique shapes, details, and textures of various leaves at each table. Second-grade students put their best effort into drawing and painting each bruise, cut, tear, and wrinkle in their leaf. Lastly, students were asked to incorporate cool colors in the background of their leaves and were given a demonstration on overlapping paint colors and blending wet-on-wet techniques.
