Artist Statement (what Capri397 said about their artwork)
I was trying to communicate a message of safety in a dark time. I used the lighthouse to symbolize the safety from the storm out on the ocean. I made the ship going towards the rocks which symbolizes the darkness or the danger. The darkness outside symbolizes the darkness or evil that I was trying to communicate. I had to make some changes along the way though. I had to add more shading to the lighthouse and I also added some vines to the lighthouse to make it seem older and like it had been there for a while. I also added some other colors to the lightning in the sky to make it pop. Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” This relates to my artwork because my artwork is about how the light of Jesus can chase away any darkness. This is what my artwork was about, and how it relates to the quote from Martin Luther King Jr.
