About this School Project (2nd grade 3D Lizards)
In this art project, we explored the transformation of 2D shapes into 3D forms by creating a paper lizard. The project began with students designing a lizard using basic 2D shapes such as circles, triangles, and rectangles. These flat shapes were carefully cut, folded, and assembled to bring the lizard to life as a 3D sculpture.
To enhance the visual appeal of our paper lizards, we incorporated oil pastel blending techniques. Students experimented with blending colors to create smooth transitions and gradients, learning how to mix and layer pastels effectively. This skill was applied to create unique patterns on the lizards, adding texture, depth, and individuality to each piece.
Through this project, students developed a deeper understanding of how 2D shapes can be manipulated into 3D forms, while also enhancing their color-blending skills using oil pastels. The combination of sculptural and artistic techniques allowed for a creative exploration of form, color, and pattern.
