About this School Project (Value Scale Feathers)
Foundational Art students had a lot of fun while also learning about value, line, shape and contrast with this unique feather project. First, students learned about value and how to create tints and shades of a color using white or black. After choosing their colors, they painted two different value scales using acrylic paint to create the gradient effect for the feathers. Then, they sketched out their feather shapes and cut them out. Next, we discussed line, shape and contrast when students traced their cut feathers to create an interesting composition for the background. Lastly, students glued down their feathers and decorated them with silver gel pen. Each student created a unique work of art. It is really fun to see the everyone's work as a whole and see all the different feathers come to life.
